The Zone at Grace Baptist Church
June 1, 2008

(click on photo for more images)
Hello
All, Ahhh… If you could only seen the gleam in their eyes… six to
twelve year olds were amazed and confused (Mr. Bradley was
there). The ZONE at Grace Church had a karate show at both services
June 1st, the air conditioner had failed and Bradley got even hotter
and gave them the finger. The kids thought it was great but the
parents had shock and awe on their faces. I think it was from the
karate demo. Then six foot five Ling Li got in on it and tried to
best everyone but could not make it to the second show, no report
from the emergency room about his hand yet. Needless to say he was
impressed with us too! The best part of all, it was not about us, it
was all about Jesus. The children will remember the karate nuts for
a long time, and how God gave them great ability and the discipline
to pray and use it wisely. Thank You all, Keith |

Family Night at the Karns Dojo
May 29, 2008

(Click on photo for more pictures)
May gave us another wonderful Family Night. The evening
started off with a devotional from Sensei Cofer. Then the
sparring began. Everyone showed good control and sportsmanship
as they traded blows with their karate brothers. After regular
sparring, Master Mills had several go through some 3-on-1 sparring
drills. All-in-All it was a good night with only a little
blood, but then again Bobby bleeds easily. |

1st Annual North Knox Isshin-Ryu
Karate Tournament
May 10, 2008

This years tournament was a great
success, with more than 60 competitors and nearly as many spectators
we had over 100 people in attendance. This was our first tournament
and it ran like a dream thanks to all of our wonderful help. I want
to thank our Grandmaster Pete Mills for his support and help in
running this tournament. I also need to thank my wife Donna and the
rest of my family for all their help in registration, scoring and
time keeping. (Click on Photo for more pictures) |

Health & Wellness Fair at Sterchi
Elementary School April 25, 2008
We were very pleased to participate in
this years Health & Wellness Fair at Sterchi Elementary
School. Sensei Allan spoke about the values of
Arnis and demonstrated various hand drills used within
that system. Sensei Walker spoke about the values
of Isshin-Ryu Karate and martial arts in general.
Both spoke of the health benefits that go along with
training in the martial arts. Wayne and Hunter
Palmer, both purple belts, assisted with breaking and
performing kata for the students. All-in-all we
had about 75 students, in 4 separate sessions. It
was a very good day.

Family Night at the NorthKnox Dojo
April 24, 2008

(Click on Photo for more Pictures)
April's Family Night featured a breaking class. Breaking, for
karate people, always makes for some good times. It has been a
while since we have had a breaking class and it went over well.
After the breaking we commenced with the sparring. I think
that is the main reason most people love these Family Nights. |

Family Night - March 27, 2008
Wow what a night. We spent about 45 minutes working
hand and reflex drill from Master Mills, Sensei's Lewis and
Baird and Sensei's Allan and Walker. After that everyone
put their gear on and began to spar. The sparring sessions
were very good. We even had a little blood spilled.
That always makes for a good night. Mark your calendars
for the next Family Night on April 24 at the NorthKnox Dojo.

Stick Night at the Halls Dojo
January 15 marked the 4th Stick Night at the Halls
Dojo. This was an evening totally devoted to Arnis training.
Sensei Allan did a wonderful job as usual running everyone through
the drills. I know Sensei Bowers would be proud of him.
Sensei Bowers is recovering after a cornea replacement surgery. |
